Organizational 360 degree feedback could also serve as the starting point for a successful coaching program focused on change.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Roll Out a Successful Organizational 360 Feedback Process<\/h2>\n<h3>5 Steps for Success<\/h3>\n<p>Take the following 5 steps to successfully roll out this powerful tool for leadership development across your organization.<\/p>\n<h4>1. Articulate your purpose and strategy.<\/h4>\n<p>The use of 360s has become so pervasive these days that if your company is not currently using one, it might feel as if you\u2019re missing out. But if you don\u2019t make a strategic decision about what you want to accomplish with 360 feedback, you won\u2019t know if your investment made any difference.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve heard any horror stories about 360 degree feedback initiatives that simply fell flat, know that\u00a0<strong>research shows that when 360s fail, it\u2019s usually because of botched implementation,<\/strong>\u00a0not the tool itself. So before you start, consider how a 360 feedback initiative connects to your business strategy and to your talent strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to answer these questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Why do you need this? What business problem are you trying to solve, and how will a 360 help you?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Why right now? What\u2019s made this a priority?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Who is it for? Who will be receiving the 360 feedback? Why is it critical that this targeted group be included to best solve your business problem?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What outcomes do you expect from your organizational 360 feedback initiative?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You\u2019ll want to consider and plan exactly\u00a0<a href=\"\/articles\/leading-effectively-articles\/3-ways-make-big-impact-360-degree-assessments\/\">how your HR team can use 360 feedback for development\u00a0<em>and<\/em>\u00a0the business<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to working closely with an assessment vendor to choose the right 360 assessment for your business needs, ensure whatever assessment is selected aligns with your organization\u2019s competency model and business outcomes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When choosing an organizational 360 feedback provider, ask about research-based content, assessment philosophy, and the level of support that will be provided through the implementation.<\/strong>\u00a0Senior HR leaders should define the metrics and then work with other senior executives to ensure alignment.<\/p>\n<h4>2. Make sure that the first person and the last person going through the process will have the same high-quality experience.<\/p>\n<p>The support of senior management is invaluable. For best results, involve them early in the process, tie the initiative to specific business goals, and ask these key stakeholders to agree to be the pilot group. They\u2019ll help set the proper tone as they share their experiences and their 360 feedback throughout the organization. \u201cGoing first\u201d also sends a strong signal that they respect implementing a 360 process and recognize the importance of the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>If it\u2019s not possible to start with senior management, be clear on why you\u2019ve chosen the beginning participants.
